Tuesday’s FYI special sec-
tion incorrectly identified
Betty Krueger as county
treasurer. She retired from
the post in December 2004
after more than five decades
of service to the county.
Suzanne C. Edwards was
appointed her replacement
in January, having worked
previously for the City of
Bellville’s economic develop-
ment efforts.
Edwards grew up in
Oklahoma and attended
Texas Tech University
before moving to Houston
and later becoming a
Bellville resident. She has
one grown daughter,
Jennifer, who works as a
school teacher in Kileen.
She has several years of
banking experience in
Houston and Austin County,
and her term will expire
next year.
The section also misiden-
tified county constables.

CRIME---
continued from Page 1
Murray said that the rea-
son for the spike in the
number of burglaries was
due to a couple of incidents
last year, so there is no need
to worry. “We have solved
those cases and arrested the
perpetrators,” he said.
All law enforcement
offices are required to turn
in a UCR to the FBI month-
ly to help with tracking
crime trends in the U.S.
The police department
made 4,859 traffic stops for
various violations in the
year of 2004. The city was
required to adopt a Racial
Profiling Policy in
December of 2001.
According to the report,
2,702 citations or 55.6 per-
cent of total citations were
issued to whites; 1,241 of
the citations or 25.54 per-
cent of total citations were
issued to Hispanics; and
723 of the citations or 14.87
percent of total citations
were issued to blacks.
The total number of cita-
tions issued is down from
5,411 in 2003.
