Tiger rally.

The Tiger baseball team
has started the 2005
District 20-3A race with
losses to two of the teams
vying for playoff spots.
Tuesday night the Tigers
fell to Rice Consolidated
4-2 following a 8-3 loss to
Columbus last Thursday.
“We shot ourselves in
the foot early tonight,”
said Sealy coach Richard
Domel after the Rice
game. “You can’t leave
that many runners on
base and beat a good
team.”
Sealy loaded the bases
with no outs in the first
inning against Rice. Nick
Hagen led off with a single
and Charlie Brown and
Brad Norris followed with
bunt singles. After a line
drive out to right field,
Hagen was thrown out at
the plate after tagging,
and another out ended the
inning. In the second
inning the Tigers had run-
ners at first and third
with one out and got
picked at first base.
They really didn’t
and all of the runs were in
the fifth inning. Hagen
was 1-3 with an RBI and a
walk, Norris hit 2-4 with
an RBI, Mazac was 2-4
with a double, Hollis went
1-2 with a walk and Mark
Brown was 1-3.
Mazac was on the
mound against the
Cardinals and went 5.2
innings against 31 bat-
ters. He allowed eight
runs on seven hits with
six strikeouts and six
walks. The Tigers commit-
ted eight errors while
Mazac was on the mound.
Hollis pitched the final 1.1
innings facing five
Cardinals with one hit
and two strikeouts.
It doesn’t get any easier
for Sealy as they travel to
