Garrison was born Sept.
10, 1923 in Santa Fe, N.M.
He was the fourth child of
Dolores Maria “Lola”
(Martinez) and John
Calvin Garrison, Sr. Clyde
graduated from Santa Fe
High School, where he met
and later married Susan
Bertha Sullivan in Dec. 30,
1942. They were married
46 years until her passing
in September of 1988. This
union was blessed with
four daughters and a son.
In November 1943 Clyde
enlisted in the U.S. Army
Air Corps. He served in
the 91st Bomb Group 8th
Division stationed in
Bassingbourne, England as
a ball turret gunner on the
“Yankee Bell”, a B-17 air-
plane. He completed
numerous bomb runs
before being shot down
over Germany in February
of 1945 and was a P.O.W.
until April 1945. He was
awarded the Purple Heart
and was honorably dis-
charged in 1945.
Clyde retired from Sears
after working for thirty-
eight years. He was a Sales
Manager at the Main
Street store in Houston
and also worked at the Post
Oak store and Memorial
City store. He continued
golfing with his former col-
leagues until his sudden
illness in September.
Clyde and Susie moved to
the Sealy area in 1981,
