• ILLUSTRATED TEXIAN SCRAPBOOK is the
title of an unusual historical feature starting today
and continuing for several Sundays to come. Assem-
bled by David A. Keasler, the Texian Scrapbook will
feature unusual stones of the Texas heritage Much
of today’s scrapbook deals with the Alamo and in-
cludes a reproduction of an advertisement listing the
shrine for sale. Future series will include illustra-
tions of little-known $3 bills and other historical
items. Teachers and students may want to clip the
Sunday series for their own scrapbooks Everyone
will enjoy reading them. Today’s scrapbook is on

Distribution of the Type 3
Sabin oral polio vaccine in
Denton County has been in-
definitely postponed Plans
to distribute the vaccine to-
day in Denton and seven
other county towns have
been canceled to allow fur-
ther study of the vaccine.
Members of the Denton County
Medical Society, the group spon-
soring the three-stage polio in-
oculation campaign, decided upon
the indefinite postponement Sat-
urday night after the US. Public
Health Service ordered a tempor-
ary halt in the use of the vaccine
for adults
The campaign also has been
postponed in Dallas. Tarrant, Col-
lin and Wise counties
Sui geon General Luther Terry
made the announcement ordering
postponement late Saturday after
a day-long meeting of a commit-
tee of polio experts who®advise the
health service on polio vaccines.

BELIEVED SAFE
A spokesman for the Denton
County medical group said Sat-
urday night. "I feel sure that the
vaccine is safe, but we think it
would be better to wait until the
question is settled With all the
adverse publicity Type 3 has been
getting, we probably wouldn’t have
much of a turnout anyway.”

Two unusual—and exclusive—features begin in
this issue of the Denton Record Chronicle as an
other bonus for readers.
• A THOUSAND SPRINGS is the title of Anna
C’hennault’s biography of her marriage to Gen.
Claire Chennault, hero of the famed Flying Tigers
Now in its fifth week as a best seller, the book is
No. 13 in the nation in popularity as judged by the
New York Times. Described as one of the great
love stories of our time, it also touches on the un-
usual story of the Flying Tigers in World War II.
The first of 12 condensed chapters begins today on

The postponement does not
mean that the Denton organiza-

plan to give the Type 3 vaccina.
It means only that the group pre-
fers to wait for more information.

I The society had planned to dis-
tribute the vaccine in 15 center!
located in Denton, Roanoke, San-

Lewisville and Lake Dallas.
