RESPECTABILITY, HUMILITY
"Praise and gratitude spring only from the contrite heart
and the humble spirit that does not take God for granted," is
the message of the sermon Sunday morning at Trinity Presby-
terian Church. Based on Luke’s story of the healing of the 10
lepers. the sermon is entitled "The Unexpected Source of Praise "
The emphasis is less upon the "faith healing” aspects of the
story than upon the ingratitude of the "insiders" who assume
that their benefits are due them. This story is another of Luke's
"Samaritan stories/’ which, like the parable of the good Samari-
tan, reveal how difficult it is for respectability and humility
to exist in the same person, particularly the religious person.
The choir will sing the Tallis canon, "All Praise To Thee.”
