discredit upon God. In this world he
started his whispering campaign in the
Garden of Eden when through the ser-
pent he spoke to Eve, questioning God's
goodness. And through the ages in the
name of God he has done all manner of
evil; he has murdered thousands upon
thousands, deceived millions. He moved
his followers with a false show of zeal for
God to crucify the Lord Jesus Christ for
blasphemy because He said He was the
Son of God. But that death was "by the
determinate counsel and foreknowledge
of God," that thereby, shedding His pre-
cious blood, the Lord Jesus Christ might
purge our sins and defeat the devil, free-
ing us, his miserable captives, breaking
our chains of sin and guilt.
Since Calvary Satan, transforming
himself into an angel of light, has launch-
ed countless religions - imitations of true
Christianity - has introduced innumer-
able errors in Christian doctrine, causing
the worthy name of Christ Jesus to be
blasphemed thereby.
Again and again he has made additions
to the Word of God, as he did nearly
nineteen hundred years ago when in the
name of the Apostle Paul one of his emis-
saries wrote the Christians at Thessalon-
ica that the day of Christ had arrived.
But Paul, hearing of this deception, wrote
a letter signed with his own hand, to
assure them that that day would not come
until the climax of Satan's masquerade,
when -the Holy Spirit having left this
world with all true believers - the Man
of Sin would sit in the temple of God,
declaring himself to be God.
By many infallible proofs God's Word
is as unmistakable to those who seek the
truth as Paul's handwriting to the Thes-
salonicans, and it was written "that ye
might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the
Son of God; and that believing ye might
have life through His name" (John 20:
31). To those who receive not the love of
the truth, God shall send "strong delu-
sion, that they should believe the lie: that
they might be damned who believe not
the truth, but had pleasure in unright-
eousness" (2 Thess. 2:10-12).3
Foot-Waggling Boy
Halts Opera Singer
In a concert at Corpus Christi, Texas, a
few days ago, says Time, Basso Ezio Pinza of
New York Metropolitan Opera House saw a
small boy in the front row waggling his foot,
and stopped singing. "Little boy," he said,
"stop waggling your foot." "Who, me?"
asked the boy. "Yes, you," said Basso Pinza,
waggling his own foot. "Please don't waggle
your foot this way; it interferes with my
tempo."
We are all more or less like Basso Pinza,
the fretful parent with an energetic youngster
and the door-to-door salesman` who is inter-
rupted in the middle of his sales talk. But there
was One Whom no outward disturbance, no
interruption could dismay or distract. In fact,
every such interruption, every question wheth-
er asked honestly or to entangle Him, served
only to forward His teaching purpose. We can
not here list the numerous incidents of this
recorded in the four Gospels, but we can recall
one familiar occurrence.
Mothers brought young children to Him,
that He should touch them, but the disciples
rebuked them. He was much displeased at the
disciples, and said to them, "Suffer the little
children to come unto Me, and forbid them
not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily
I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive
the kingdom of God as a little child, he'shall
not enter therein." And He took them up in
His arms, and put His hands on them, and
blessed them.
Many today think small boys and girls
should be kept away from concerts because
they have not been trained in music apprecia-
tion, and many more think that little children
are too young to be taught that the Lord Jesus
Christ so loved them He gave His life for them.
But today as then it is true that the best time
to come to Him is in early youth when hearts
are trusting and not hardened by sin, for when
we grow older we grow wiser in our own con-
ceit and find it more difficult in simple child-
like faith to confess with our mouth the Lord
Jesus and believe in our heart that God hath
raised Him from the dead.
