"I Am the Resurrection and the Life"
John 11:25).
"I Am the Way, the Truth, and the
Life" (John 14:6).
"I Am the True Vine" (John 15:1).
What value His Deity imparts to the sac-
rifice which He offered upon Calvary's Cross!
May we never forget Who it was that died
for our sins, was buried and rose again for
our justification. And may all who have not
yet done so, heartily say: "Lord, I believe"
and then worship Him! (John 9:39).
5,000 Capsules of Vitamin
B-1for St. Louis Cardinals
After seven years without a championship,
says Associated Press, penant fever has hit
the Cardinals again. So President Sam
Breadon, turned doctor, has prescribed vita-
min B-1 to revitalize his Red Birds into A-i1
flag contenders!
Breadon, whose organization pioneered the
chain store system in baseball, has about
5,000 capsules to administer to his players,
starting with Spring training at St. Peters-
burg, Fla.
According to medical authorities, B-1 is an
anti-neurotic vitamin which has been effec-
tive in relieving nervousness, indigestion and
lack of energy.
Asked if taking the vitamin tablets would
be a "must" order on the Cardinal's training
program, the St. Louis Club president said:
"Well, of course, we can't force the play-
ers to swallow the capsules, but naturally the
club would like to have its men in line regu-
larly for the B-1 issues."
Resorting to a play on the term B-1, we
offer the following suggestions which will
enbale believers to "play ball" spiritually in
such a way as to win the Lord's "Well done"
and "crowns" and places of honor in the
Lord's millennial kingdom.
There are two classes of believers in the
Church-spiritual and carnal. Be one of the
spiritual class by "exercising thyself unto
godliness" (1 Tim. 4:7-8).
There are two kinds of servants in the
service of the Lord-faithful and slothful.
Be one of the faithful, for a "faithful man
shall abound with blessings" (Prov. 28:20).
There are disciples who wholly follow the
Lord and those that follow "afar off." Be onethat follows wholly, for the Lord Jesus said:
"Follow me, and I will make you fishers of
men" (Matt. 4:19).
There are courageous and cowardly sol-
diers of Jesus Christ. Be one of good cour-
age and "the Lord shall strengthen thine
heart" (Psalm 27:14).
There are bright and flickering lights in
the spiritual firmament. Be one of the bright
kind like John the Baptist, concerning whom
the Lord said: "He was a burning and a
shining light" (John 5:35).
Include B-1 in your daily diet, but by all
means be one to say with the Apostle Paul
"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is
gain" (Phil. 1:21).
Trusting As the
Bullets Fly
War changes things-even hymns! Who
does not know that old-time favorite:
"Trusting as the moments fly,
Trusting as the days go by;
Trusting Him whate'er befall
Trusting Jesus, that is all."
Word comes through the Elim Evangel of
London that Christians in war-torn Britain
are now singing it as follows:
"Trusting as the bullets fly,
Trusting as the flames go by;
Trusting as the bombs do fall,
Trusting Jesus, that is all."
War conditions-if anything-can test
the reality of faith. Thank God for the genu-
ine faith in Christ of British believers that
enables them to sing amidst flying bullets,
bursting flames, and exploding bombs!
As the Psalmist commences Psalm 56, he
says: "What time I am afraid, I will trust in
Thee" (verse 3); but before concluding it
he is able to say: "In God have I put my
trust, I will not be afraid what man can do
unto me" (verse 11).
In what or in whom are you trusting?
