Teague Thinks
Second Russian
Spectacular Soon
BRYAN—A Texas Congress-
man, Olin Teague, predicted to-
day a second Russian space spec-
tacular may be in the making.
In a telephone interview from
his Washington office, Teague
said more than 30 ships have
been deployed by the Soviet
Union in both the Atlantic and
Pacific Oceans the past week.
Teague said he believes the Rus-
sians may attempt a water land-
ing of a spacecraft, the first
known attempt by the Soviets to
use this means of recovering a
space vehicle.
Said Teague: “This would be
the first water landing so far,”
adding that the ship deployment
is “a good indication they are
up to something.”
However, Teague said, if a
water landing is attempted he
does not believe it is forced by
the April death of Cosmonaut
Vladimir Komarov. The Como-
naut died April 24th when the
descent parachute on his craft
tangled during re-entry.

battle.
The tLions played good de-
fense last week against Moore
and did a good of containing
the speedy Moore backs. In or-
der to win this week, the Lions
may have to be much better
than last week.
Carver’s basic offense is the
“T” formation but they run a
lot of different stuff, more than
Moore did—a wing-T—double
wing-T and a pro formation.
The quarterback is Allen Gil-
es, and he goes in strong for the
deep pass. His favorite receivers
-are the halfbacks—Will Ingle-
hart—and Hardy Slay and the
right end, Cleveland Scott. Slay
often shifts to end and at other
tion department. That new cry-
stal ball really paid off. The av-
evarge edged up to 68 per cent
and things are beginning to
look up.
'The only game I missed last
week was Waxahachie 39-22
victory over Duncanville. Dun-
canville almost pulled it off—
but lost the ball at the Indian
one via the fumble route.
Here’s this week’s picks:
OUT ON A LIMB
EINNIS TO TAKE CARVER—
Here’s a vote for the number
one rated Lions. Ennis was down
7-3 last week and came back to
win 16-7. They colld do it again,
if needed.
DUNCANVILLE TO BEAT
MOORE—’Moore is bound to be
down after the terrific battle
they put up against Ennis last
week. Duncanville lost by inch-
es last week—but they won’t do
it again.

times to flanker on some of the
pass plays.
The Carver halfbacks have
speed to burn. Inglehart does
the 100 in 9.7 seconds and Slay
goes the century in 9.8 seconds.
The fullback—195-pound Billy
Freeman, can travel the 100 in
10-flat, and he has power to
burn, too.
’Ennis finds itself in good
shape for this week’s outing—
with no serious injuries.
The Lion offense rang up 16
points last week against a tough
Moore eleven and hopes to put
more points on the board this
week.
(The Lion running attack has
been terrific this year. Full-
back Gary Campbell and Half-
back Bobby Searcy have been
the leaders—but other backs
like Riley Emerson, Warren
Lester, and Robert Macon have
turned in good performances
when they have carried the ball.
Defensively—the Lions have
given up but two TDs this year—
but Carver is quite likely to
score this week. The Lions—
who are a great team to watch,
just hope they can score more
than their opponent.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at
LaVega Field.

The Ennis freshmen and B
team host the Duncanville fresh-
men and B team tonight at
Lions Field. Both Ennis teams
will be going after season vic-
tory number six—against no
defeats.
The EJHS seventh and eighth
graders will hit the road to visit
Duncanville for their action.
The Ennis seventh graders are
undefeated while the eighth
graders have been defeated once
this year—26-6, last week b y
Lancaster. So Coach Al Lange’s
charges will be out to get back
on the winning track.
Game time for the first con-
test at each site is 6 p.m.
Don’t forget the Ennis-Carver
clash tomorrow night in Waco.
The game is to be played at the
same site of this year’s Ennis-
LaVega encounter. Game time
for this one is set for 8 p.m.
I was lucky last week and hit
School of the Waco suburb of
Bellmead. Ennis has 5-0 season
record, while Carver sports a 3-
3 season record. Both teams
won last week—Ennis downed »
Moore 16-7—and Carver beat
hapless Terrell—24-7.
Coach Gerald Meyer said Car-
ver not only has exceptional
speed—they are faster than
(Moore which is a pretty speedy
football team—but they throw
the long pass frequently and
