HemisFair
Tickets Selling
By Lone Star
Lone Star Gas Company dis-
tribution offices throughout
Texas and Oklahoma have been
designated official headquart-
ers for advance ticket sales to
the 1968 HemisFair—to be held
April 6 through October 6, 1963
in San Antonio.
Tickets for the World’s Fair
will be sold at Lone Star district
and reporting district offices at
a reduced price of $1.70—now
through December 31, 1967—
and $1,815, during the second
discount period, January 1-
March 31, 1968. These tickets
will admit one adult to the Ex-
position grounds on any one day
of the HemisFair or will always
be exchangeable at any gate for
two children’s tickets (ages 2-
11). The regular price of tickets
to be sold at the gate will be $2
for adults and $1 for children.
In addition to the general ad-
mission tickers Lone Star sell
the utility will offer four spe-
cial HemisFair bonus books1 at
reduced prices. These bonus
books contain coupons for the
most exciting attractions at the
World’s Fair. The four books
include one bonus book for use
by two ‘adults, containing gate
admissions, at a price of $11—
gate price will be $15.85; a bon-
us book with one gate admis-
sionat price of $7, gate price
wil ibe $9.85; a bonus book for
one adult who already has pur-
chased a HemisFair gate admis-
sion ticket at a price of $5—gate
price will be $7.25; and a bon-
us book for children ages 2-11
for a price of $3—gate price
will be $4.50.
In the larger Texas cities1—a
number of outlets will supply
tickets. However—in the smal-
ler communities and towns Lone
Star will be the sole supplier.
Lone Star Vice President of Spe-
cial Services L. A. Bickel—com-
mented' that the HemisFair will
unquestionably be a boon to the
prosperity of all Texas—and
Lone Statr is pleased to play a
part in promoting it.
Staged in conjunction with
the 250th anniversary of t h e
founding of San Antonio—the
1968 HemisFair’s aim is to edu-
cate, to entertain, and to fos-
ter world peace and progress
through mutual understanding.
It is estimated that more than
7.2 million persons will visit
the HemisFair, which will be
situoaed about 200 yards from
The Alamo an da short walk
from downtown hotels. The ex-
position will cover 92.6 acres
and will have a parking, area
for 5,000 automobiles. All of
the fair areas will be tied to-
gether by a 7,000-foot minirail,
a mile of waterways for boat
traffic, and several miles of
flower - bordered footpaths.
Soaring above it all will be 1,400
feet of skyride—about 80 feet
