In a contributed article last week
of a miscellaneous shower honoring
Mrs. Earl Dollar and Miss Grace Hen-

in Manor, the name of Mrs. Rudolph
Prokschl was unintentionally omit-
ted as one of the host group. We are
glad to make the correction.

ELM GROVE, Dec. 4—We have
a nice norther this morning and some
are killing hogs.
Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hobbs and
family spent Wednesday night and
Thursday with his brother, Mr. Will
Hobbs, of Wharton. They surely
did enjoy themselves as they hadn’t
seen each other in 18 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Odell Morgan and
family spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Morgan and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hobbs spent
awhile Monday night with Mr. and
Mrs. W. A. Heath.
Those spending Monday in the H.
A. Hobbs home were Mr. and Mrs.
Mobly Barnett and Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Morgan.
Mrs. Ada Hobbs has come to make
her home with her nephew, Mr. and
Mrs. Hode Hobbs. We welcome her
to our community.
Mr. and Mrs. Hode Hobbs and Mr.
The Junior American Legion Aux-
iliary met on Monday afternoon,
November 27th, at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. John L. Dannelley, with
little Miss Patricia Dannelley, as
hostess.
Bowls and vases of lovely roses
i from the Dannelley rose garden ad-
ded beauty and fragrance to the re-
ception suite for the occasion.
During the business session the
following officers were elected:
Bessie Bell Davis, Chairman; Caro-
lyn Voelker, vice-chairman; Joan
Rivers, secretary; Anna Belle Pfeif-
fer, chaplain; Patricia Dannelley,
sergeant-at-arms; Betty Jo Johnson,
historian.
The subject of the study for the
afternoon was “Birds and Thier
Uses”, which proved quite interest-
ing and instructive to the group.
। The Juniors voted to hold their
meetings on the third Monday in
each month hereafter and the next
meeting will be held in the Legion
hall, at which time they have a
i Christmas party.
The occasion was also the birth-
day of the young hostess but an-
nouncement of this had been with-
held by her until the refreshments
were served and the first hint of the
pleasant surprise was when Patri-
cia came in bearing a lovely star-
shaped birthday cake, beautifully de-
corated and surmounted by 8 candles,
which she placed on the table in the
livingroom, and in answer to excited
inquiry from everyhand as to why a
birthday cake, she let the secret out.
Congratulations and good wishes
were showered upon her while Mrs.'
E. N. Sowell, the Junior’s sponsor,
lighted the candles, which the honor
guest blew out with a wish, and ser-
ved the cake. The refresh-
ment plates were laden with tuna
salad in lettuce cups, garnished with
stuffed olive, individual devils food
cakes iced white with a tiny lighted
candle in pink rosebud holder on top
and in the cakes a cute luck emblem
was found. Hot Chocolate topped
with marshmallow accompanied the
service. Plate favors were yellow
rosebud cups filled with wrapped
candies.
Those present to enjoy the meeting
and participate in the surprise cele-
bration of Patricia’s birthday were:
Bessie Bell Davis, Carolyn Voelker,
Joan Rivers, Anna Belle Pfeiffer,
Bobby Jo Johnson, Joan Lundgren,
Lynna Lee Dannelley and the young
hostess, and Mrs. E. N. Sowell and
Mrs. Dannelley.
