This year Cleburne High School Area Career Center has an enrollment
of 752 students in vocational education courses. Included in this number an
78 students from other schools in the county. These include Alvarado, God-
ley, Grandview, Joshua and Rio Vista.
Vocational Education in public school is designed to develop skills and
abilities in young people that will better prepare, them to enter the world of
work and get a job upon graduation from high school. -
Pictured above are students who are pert of the Metal Trades Course. .
Metal Trades is a combination course in welding and machine shops. Its aim
is to prepare students for an entry level job in industry as a welder or mach-
inest. The first year is a basic information study in all areas of metal trades.
' During the second year the students can specialize in one specific area. The
work areas they may-specialize in include: stick electrode welding, M.I.G.
welding, Oryacetylene cutting and welding. Pictured with the students is
