The foremost consideration i

to change to the spare tire.
• Review the proper
procedure for changing a
tire contained in the own-

• Keep a flashlight or a
pair of gloves in the glove
compartment.
• When checking for
proper inflation with a tire
gauge, be sure to include the
spare lire.

What’s the best way to get
children to wear safety
belts? Children, like adults,
psychologists say, often
resist using a safety belt or
safety seat when they are
first introduced to it.
Youngsters, however, very,
quickly come to develop a
feeling of comfort , and
■security in a child safety
seat. To achieve this, the
seat must be used every
time the child rides in the
car. An explanation of what
the safety seat does and
how it works often helps.
According to the National
Highway Traffic Safety Ad- .
ministration, after a week or
so of resistance, most
children happily accept
their restricted mobility and
enjoy having their own
special place to sit and ride
safely.

We all know wearing
safety belts is the smart and
safe thing to do. It's a fact
that if you are involved in
an accident, safety belts
more than double your
chances of not being hurt.
Yet, some people don’t ask
their passengers to put on
their safety belts in the car
because they worry that
most people would be
offended by the request.
However, experts agree that
it’s easier than you think to
get people to wear safety
belts. Polls show that the
overwhelming majority of
passengers would willingly
put on their belts if only the
driver would ask them.
