Lorene Emilie (nee Koerner)
Harz passed away in Freder-
icksburg, Texas on February
21, 1978, at 67 years of age.
Born in Shiner, Texas on Aug-
ust 29, 1910, she attended
Shiner schools and Texas Luth-
eran College.
Lorene married Udo F. Harz
of Boerne on Sept. 18, 1938. In
1952, she was elected County
and District Clerk of Kendall
County; the first woman
elected to hold public office in
Kendall County. She held the
office until her death in 1978.
Prior to her election in 1952,
she served as a deputy in the
Clerk’s office for 10 years. In

Bradley Keith Cravey, 26, of
Comfort, has been sentenced to
a 4 -year term in the Texas
Department of Corrections
according to District Attorney,
Joe Grady Tuck. The charges
against Cravey stemmed from a
search warrant conducted on
June 9, 1977, by the Depart-
ment of Public Safety narcotics
service. Cravey was on proba-
tion for an earlier charge of
marijuana in Kendall County at
the time of the arrest. His
probation was revoked on
November 9, 1977, and he was
serving his probated sentence
at the time of his Kerr County
trial.

Mr. Frank Y. Hill, Jr. has been
named Chairman of the Key-To-
Hills Unit (Kendall Co.) of the
American Cancer Society’s
1978 educational and fund
raising Crusade which begins
April 1.
Mr. Hill will lead local volun-
teers in a community-wide
effort to help “wipe out cancer
in your lifetime” by research
and education. “Our volunteers
will urge their friends and
neighbors to help win this goal
by supporting the Society’s

the State School Board for the
Twenty-eighth Annual Obser-
vance of Public Schools Week in
Texas.
During this week parents and
interested citizens will be able
to visit their schools and
evaluate the needs and see the
schools in action. Open House
will be held at the Boerne
Primary, Intermediate and
Middle Schools Thursday,
March 9, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The operation and control of
Public Schools has been dele-
gated to local school boards and
officials by the citizens of a
