is once more ruled by Houston.
Plastering a 9 to 1 defeat on wich-
ita Falls, the Bayou city aggrega-
tion swept into first place Friday
night following Beaumont’s defeat
by the Fort Worth Cats.
The Houston-Wichita Fall- com-
bat was only an eight inniug affair,
being called at that time to allow

ting the game short did not bring

second place. Morgan's mark rep-
resented an improvement of 10
pointe and boosted him from fourth
position into the lead. Cochrane's
average remained the same as last
week. while the great Babe dropped

Joe Cronin, Washigton’s short-
stop. continued to monopolize the
individual. leaderships. He had 83
safe hits good for 133 bases, led
with eight triples, and had knock-
ed home 54 runs. Jimmy Foxx of
the Athletics headed the home run
hitters with 13, and Earl Webb of
Boston retained the leadership in
two*base hits with 28. Al Simmons
topped the scorers with 51 runs, and
