flounced effect of the gay nineties in
these new negligees. Their Haas
are trim, their designs comparative-
ly simple, their laces applied in flat
cut-out incrustations around the
throas, sleeves and hem
Necklines are often surplice
sleeves are large enough to give an
Mr at grace, and hemlines never
trail the floor but clear it by three
or four inches. A number of the
hems are cut to give a modified flare
reminiscent of a Spanish dancer's
swirling skirt.
For the woman who does not care
for lace their are plain satin, crepe
or triple georgette negligees, the
distincton of which Ues in their
sophisticated simplicuy and the
-weep of wide butterfly sleeves.
Velvet negligees—the one loung-
ing robe which fashion permits to
traupromise to be popular later
in the season. Several of these, in
rich ruby or emerald tints, are de-
signed with modified trains which
sweep with grace over heavy car-
pets. 1
