Bringing out the point that if
different civilizations and nations
knew more about each other there
would be leas conflict and fewer
wars, Roy T. House, of the Uni-
veraity of Oklahoma, lectured to a
small audience in the C.' I. A. audi-
torium Friday evening on “The
United States of Letter*.”
House dealt with the idea that
no duty to required on foreign books,
and as a result of this there is com-
paratively free exchange among the
literary circles of different coun-
tries He advocated Americans fa-
miliarizing themselves with books
of foreign countries.
The speaker devoted most of his
time to reading extracts from for-
eign books and pointing out the In-
terest that can be found in them.
He said he believed this would in-
augurate a friendlier spirit between
the nations of the world.
“The Greeks started the bad habit
or calling all foreigners barbarians,"
