The State Highway Commission
has allotted the sum of $2,000 for
locating Highway 24 from Denton to
Decatur. This mighway was destg-
ruled on condition that the two
counties affected furnish the right
of way.
Denton people have been promis-
ed the construction of this highway
the latter part of this year if the
right of way is secured.

Seven in Race for
School Board
Seven candidates had been an-
nounced Friday for the three va-
cancies on the Board of Education
to be filled at the April 6 election.
Those announced are Lee Pres-
ton. Oran Monroe, J. W. Jagoe,
Fred Minor, J H. Russell, Deals
Headlee and Fred Cobb.
Later in the day an eighth can-
didate for the school board was
announced. He is C. G. Yarbrough
whose term expires in April. and he
seeks re-election.

preached in the First Methodist

The board adopted a motion ask-
ing that people who wish to use
the band shell in the park tor pro-
grams schedule such meetings with

Turrentine. The band shell will be
used frequently during the summer
