of two men who were drowned in
Lake Kirby south of here late Mon-
day, were recovered today by a res-
cue party which dragged the waters
for more than ten hours.
The victims were W E Downing,
■45. and J B. Barton, 26, both em-
ployes of the Humble Pipeline Com-
pany at Hawley.
Barton's body was recovered near
the point at which a light metal
boat in which the men were fishing
capsized Downing was found near-
ly two hours later. 75 yards nearer
shore.

HONOLULU, June 18—(P— An-
other pioneering feat—the first
flight of a commercial plane to and
from Midway Island—went Into the
log book of.the Pan-Americans
Clipper today as mechanics groom-
ed the huge flying boat for the re-
turn hope to Alameda. Caur., next
Friday.
Greeted more like a slightly over-
due ferryboat than a sky trail blaz-
er. the Clipper swooped down out
of the afternoon sun at 4:28 p. m.
(9:58 p tn. Eastern Standard Time)
yesterday and came to reel on the
waters of Pearl Harbor just 10
hours and five minutes after leav-
ing lonely Midway Island, 1.323
miles to the northwest.
As residents of Hawaii have come
to expect, Capt. F. C. Musick an-
nounced tests "very successful" and
reported no unusual incidents de-
spite the fact 500 miles of the trip
were made "flying blind." All cur-
tains of the ship’s cabin were drawn
