the Newark Internationa la.
To obtain Hassett, less than three
years out of Manhtt College and

players and a "substantial sum in

nouncement by John Gorman. the
Dodger business manager. The play-
ers are Ralph Boyle, outfielder, and
John McCarthy, first baseman. The
cash was estimated at $5,000.

Manager Bill Terry will retire from
active duty. Terry is 37 and wants
to ease off but he is still the hard-

will start the season but doubts if
he will play over 100 games. Leslie
will thus share the job and do some
pinch-hitting duty. A left-handed

Hassett, although he lias yet to
experience major league fire, is rat-
