DALLAS, April 28 -A churn
that will make butter from sweet
milk in three minute*. Country
raised boys and girls will smile
at that statement when they re-
call their churning day*. An old
farm axiom—milk one day, chum
the next, U fhe milk clabbered
sufficiently. But T. C. Rowland
of Ferris has invented and patent-
ed a chur that will actually make
butter from sweet milk in three
minutes.
He made a study of Pasteur’s
theory of lactic bacteria, causing
fermentation of germs in old milk
that soured and clabbered the
milk. He wondered why the but-
ter fats from milk were not obtain-
able before souring and thereby
getting a sweeter butter. Hl* ma-
chine does this and geta the but-
ter long before the bacteria is
formed and he savs butter obtained
thus will never become rancid His
machine, baaed on the laws at agi-
tation, whirls the butter from the
sweet milk at the rate of 600 rev-
olutions per minute.
Rowland is a native Texan. His
father was a Baptist preacher when
Texas was a repubilc.
Ripley referred recently to Row-
land's chum in his blleve-it-or-not
and the inventor has since been
flooded with letters from all over
the country.
Mrs. Rowland, while a resident
of Cotsiczma, raised there Mia* Maty
Brian, the movie actress.
