Five years is not enough differ-

A wife who is her husband's sen-

she is apt to be supersensitive and
be given to Jealousy Both are han-
dicaps, you'll admit. On the other
hand, the younger husband, who
really loves his wife. Is inclined to
show her greater consideration be-
cause he is a ware of her sppes-
sentitiveness.
After all. it is one's mental equip-
ment which largely determines the
outlook on life and one's experiences
or capacity for experience That
is the biggest factor.
I honestly believe that a man
and woman who have both love
and common sense to guide them,
can make a success of c marriage
under conditions not supposed 40

VRIENDS. TO ADVISE GIRL "
IN RISKY ROMANCE
Clever women have a mo* un-
fortunate tendency to impose han-
dicaps on themselves. The two
whose problems are considered today
are no exception, although I may
be flattering one, or both by call-
ing them clever. On the face of it,
it isn’t clever to associate oneself
with another woman’s hband.
Never was there a dumber deed, yet
clever women, figuring that they
are the great exceptions, often im-
plicate themselves in this way. It
takes considerable- finesse on the
part of a girl’s parents to Jockey
Iter out of any such undesirable
position.
"My dear Mrs. Martin: What is
your opinion of a girl of 18 who
prefers the society of a married
man to anyone in her set? She is
othewise a dandy girl. She met
this man about six months ago
and has gone with him steadily
ever since, much to the disgust
of KerTtends and the displeasure
of her parents.
Don’t Meddle '.....
"Themanenwife la away,inde-
nitely. They are not, as far as any-
one knows, separated and seem
to correspond Why they are not
l'ogdther has something to do
with finances, or rather his busi-
ness arrangements
"The girl lives at home. I under-
stand that her parents think it
better to have this man call on
her at home than to meet her
elsewhere ut where is it all go-
ing to end? I am one of the
girl's besk'friends and am terribly
upset over it. I there anything I
can do’—Friendship,"
The situation is definitely up
to the girl's parents. I see nothing
that even an old friend can do
that is not open to misunder-
standing This silly girl, for in-
stance is sure to think that any
Interference on your part is in-
spired either by jealousy or just
plain cattiness.
You will admit that her parents
are in a difficult position. Every-
one knows that there is nothing
that fans a flame more effective-
ly than parental opposition. If the
girl is headstrong and it's not an
uncommon falling among girls,
she probably would arrange clan-
destine meetings with this man if
hex-parents forbade him to come
to the house. They probably feel
that they have the situation better
under control as things are. I
cannot believe that they are un-
mindful of the dangers of it, how-
ever.
If this girl is your friend and
you are on terms of intimacy with
her, you could tell her how you
feel, but it will probably not im-
press her at all.
let's hope that fate will take a
hand in ending a situation wliich,
has nothing to defend it..
