NEW YORK. January 24 —Practically everyone has
a favorite restaurant, yet few are so wholly monopo-

THE NEWS SAYS
The Detroit Board of Commerce has compiled a
list of 47 days on which many Michigan business
men will have tax matters to attend to in 1938. These
days include the dates for returns and payments on
federal income taata, sales, state and county prop-
erty taxes, sales, unemployment and other taxes and
the returns that accompany them.
That indicates one source of tax drains that never

it is easy to be an economics expert when dealing
with sotheoneelse’s money, Ir this money belongs
to an individual in business, the resultant loss doesn't
hurt the general public, but when the money comes
from all the people in the form at taxes, the mud-

wasted and in the retardation at business through

There are various reasons for Ralph's success in
the restaurant trade. He knows Broadway. He has
been a part at it for 25 years. Then, too. his food
is always excellent. But more important than thia,
I suspect, is his gnat tolerance and his willingness
always to give sympathetic attention to one and all.
There are frequenters of his house of food who
ar now great names in the arts. They spend their
money lavishly now, but perhaps a few short months
ago, they were eating on the cuff. Ralph never
turns an actor away unfed—or anyone else. They come

There is one actress on Broadway, a talented crea-
ture, whose luck only recently has turned towards
the better. For eight months she was out at em-
ployment. yet Ralph urged her to make his cafe

without paying. She to the money now and you may
