day morning when Mis. U. C.
Travelstead gave as reason for her
resignation that when site accepted
the presidency last spring she did
not realize how much time her own
business would take, and that since
trying to serve both her. personal
affairs and the federation she had
had to neglect the latter, she felt.

ing, and remarked that while she
felt remarkably well, she had no
desire to see what life would be like
at a hundred!

a string trio including Mr and
Mrs. W. Gibson Walters and Mrs.
Hermina Hooper will be featured
in the twilight musical at S. C W.

dren of whom three are now liv-
ing, Mrs Lulu Woodrum. 1509 Boli-
var Street, Captain Clyde M El-
bert. Ten Sleep. Wyo , and Judge
Elbert of Denton G W Elbert died
in Denton at the age of 80 years
in 1926

Club Entertained
Mrs Walter Wilson was nosters

her ranch home northwest of Den-
ton Saturday, when places were
marked at a long table for 12 mem-
bers and guests A Valentine motif
was carried out in bridge appoint-
ments and menu, and spring flow-
ers decorated the rooms. In the

the civic improvement committee,
commended the efforts of the city
to improve conditions by quarterly
free trash haulings but said that
many unattractive spots may be
seen that need cleaning up Mrs
J. R. Swenson, lookout chairman,
reported the presence of parts of
burned dwellings that have not been
removed after a reasonable tune.
The treasurer reported a balance
of $18 19 in the treasury. The presi-

their Lake Dallas lodge Sunday

Mrs H G Shands entertained
for her daughter, Betty Ann, on
her 10th birthday Saturday after-

day night, were held in the First
Baptist Church here Sunday after-

O C. Knight, former bustness man-
ager of the church when Mrs.
Walker was a resident and an ac-
tive worker in the church, paid a
