“I can not recall any situation or
problem I have gone through just
because I was a woman or black,”
Rogers said. “I guess it’s because I
perceive problems as an.. opportunity
to succeed.”
Rogers is an avid proponent of qual-
ity education. She contends the public
school system encourages students to
succeed in an environment that repre-
sents a microcosm of the real world.
“As public educators, we are asked
to meet the needs of diverse popula-
tions,” Rogers said. “If they (students)
can make it (in the public school sys-
tem), I am confident they will do all
right in the real world.”
When Rogers is not busy at Harby,
she enjoys reading, traveling and
! spending time with her family.
“What people don’t really know is I
am a private person,” Rogers said
“My idea of relaxing is staying home
and reading something light.”

Escape from L.A. is the kind of
movie you go to see just because
you have nothing better to do and
you have seen all the other movies
at the theatre.
Although the movie stayed with
th plot, parts of it were slow and
were a little hard to believe.
The movie takes place in the
year 2013 after an earthquake has
divided Los Angeles from the rest
of the United States. When a
right-winged clergyman is elected
president for life, he decrees L.A.
to be a prison for the morally
untasteful in the United States.
Some of these people include a
Muslim, hookers, and runaway
children. When the president’s
daughter, Utopia, steals a secret
defense device and runs to L.A.,
