August 11 at the age of
65 years.
Funeral services were
held at Heights Funeral
Home at 10:00 a.m. Friday
and graveside services
were held at the Sealy
Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
with Rev. James Quilter
officiating.
Mr. Owens was related
to the Buchanan family,
who lived here a number
of years ago.______________

for or against the proposi-
tion:
"Repeal of the prohibi-
tion against open saloons
found in Section 20, Article
XVI of the Constitution of
the State of Texas.”

ciation announces that its
Health Manpower Project
has been extended for an-
other year by the United
States Public Health Ser-
vice, Division of Nursing,
under a $42,175 contract.
Mrs. Lillian E. Taubert,
R. N., executive director
of the Texas Nurses Asso-
ciation, reported that the
project will continue its
present objectives of pro-
moting new and/or ex-
panding existing training
programs for inactive
health personnel to assist
as many of them as possi-
ble to return to active em-
ployment.
Four areas of the state
have been singled out in I
order to concentrate the
Project’s efforts to assist J
and work cooperatively j
with employers in the
health service facilities to
upgrade their nursing ser- !
vices through inservice
training programs. j
Among the areas chosen !
was the Colorado-Fayette
County area. Areas sur-
rounding these counties
will also be included.
Inactive health person-
nel who wish to avail
themselves of refresher '
courses in order to pre-
pare for return to active
employment In hospitals
or health agencies. Austin
