Mrs. Vecera said she is
now allergic to smoke. She
said she and Frank are glad
they quit smoking. It is a
needless expense, and she

Mrs. Barbara Konesheck,

You would think then that OSU would;
not have had to “fuel adjust" its bills all
these years. It did, though.
“The contract has, in effect, given our
customers an annual $200-$300 million
windfall:’ explained GSU. Don’t you wish
your utility had been so big hearted? Well,
GSU prices have gone up just like your
utility’s prices have, despite GSU’s good
old contract.
The GSU contract is going to expire
December 31, 1984, and GSU will have
"to replace about 200 million of the 500
million cubic feet (of gas) a day that is be-
ing received under the old contract" and
"that is what is going to make the com-
pany’s next rate case appear even larger
than it would appear if the company had
to contend only with the new rules!’ '
It’s a wonder all the poor electric com-
panies don’t go broke with all those fuel
adjustment rules they do or don’t contend
with.
What they ought to do is look at what
Ma Bell is trying to do. Ma Bell has asked
for a billion dollar-plus increase in Texas
in 1984, not to meet the increase in present
expenses — no, not that — but to meet
expenses it thinks may come up at some
time in the future.
Let the consumer watch a little bit out.
