MARSHALL - Ricky Garland
ripped a run-scoring double in the
top of the eighth to ignite a four-
run rally as East Texas Longhorns
crushed Marshall, 7-3, for their
eighth win of the season.
Darin Anthony was safe on an
error to open the extra inning and
after one was out. Garland
collected the game-winning RBI.
Adam Hoffpauir struck out but
was safe on a passed ball. Trent
Pride singled for another run and
after two were out, Curtis Miller
walked and Lance Newton drove in
a run.
Hoffpauir worked the Marshall
half of the inning without incident,
retiring one batter with a putout at
first and striking out the next to end
the game.
Hoffpauir came into the fray in
the sixth and gave up three runs
that allowed Marshall to tie the
game and eventually force
overtime.
An error, a single by Talley and
a double by Parker highlighted the
Marshall uprising.
Longhorns scored without
benefit of a hit in the third inning
and added two in the fifth on a
walk, a double by Curtis Miller and
some shoddy Marshall defensive
