Funeral services for Ray Pit-
cock, 47, former Gainesville resi-
dent, were held at 4 p. m. Wed-
nesday at the' First Baptist
church for Corsicana with inter-
ment in a Corsicana cemetery.
Mr. Pitcock passed away last
Thursday after an illness of some
three months in a hosptial in
Venezuela, South America. He
had been employed by the Cre-
ole Petroleum corporation in
Venezuela for more than eight
years, though he still made his
home in Corsicana.
He was married to Miss Hazel
Orsburn in 1929 in Gainesville
where they made their home for
a number of years before moving
to Corsicana.
Survivors are his wife; a
daughter, Nancy Ray; a son,
Larry James, all of Corsicana;

Contract for the plumbing in
the Linda-Jo Shoe company fac-
tory building being erected by
the Chamber of Commerce In-
dustrial foundation, was let Wed-
nesday afternoon to Jack Stans-
bury for $2,898.50, F. E. Schmitz,
chairman of the building com-
mittee, announced.
Other bidders and their bids,
Mr. Schmitz said, were: Albert’s
Plumbing $3,495; Charles Wilson
$3,700; and D. L. Blake and Son
$3,680.

Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Johnson
received a telephone call from
their son, Pfc. Wally Johnson
Tuesday, stating that he had
arrived in San Francisco, Calif.,
and would be sent early next
week to a hospital at Corpus
Christi. He was wounded in Ko-
rea several weeks ago, and has
been receiving treatment in a
hospital in Japan.
Miss Dorotha Catherine Linn,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Linn, 1213 East Garnett street, is
a graduate student at New Mexi-
co Western college at Silver City,
N. M. this term.
Mrs. O. L. Fortenberry has re-
turned to her home in Happy
after a visit with her niece, Mrs.
Una Woods, and sisters, Mrs.
Ethel Lewis, Era, and Mrs. Mary
Bomar, who returned Thursday
afternoon to Dallas after a visit
with Mrs. Woods.

from a trip to Columbus, Ohio,
where he went to be at the bed-
side of his mother, who is ill.
Sam W. Sims received an-
nouncement Wednesday of the
arrival of his first grandson,
born at 1:07 p. m., Wednesday
in a hospital in Santa Cruze,
Calif. The baby is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sims, Jr.,
who reside at Soquel, Calif. The
youngster has a sister Sharlene,
foui’ years old.
Mrs. Ruth Johnston returned
to her home in Dallas Thursday
after a short visit with her sis-
ter, Mrs. W. D. Garnett, 501
