Saturday, May 2nd at approximately 6 p.m. all branches of the area law enforcement par-
ticipated in a high speed chase on the 1-10 access road approximately 2 miles north of Boerne.
A suspect was apprehended at the scene, and was not injured. The stolen vehicle, a 1981
Cadillac belonging to a physician from Fredericksburg, Texas, did not come through the tree
shattering experience unscathed, totally destroying one side of the auto.
The Sheriff’s Department took the suspect into custody, and an accomplice who had stolen
another vehicle was apprehended in the Kerrville area.

A girl is not elibible if she is presently a senior because '
Miss Berges Fest needs to be in Boerne during the year of
her reign. ।
A girl must be 15 years of age or older. They must be
from our school system (including St. Albert’s Hall) since
this is a city festival.
The girls will meet at The Circle S. Saloon Restaurant at ,
707 S. Main Street at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, in sport-
swear or casual dress. At this time, they will meet the
judges individually and have the first round of judging. At
6:45, they will meet at the fairgrounds under the enter- '
tain in ent pavilion for the final part of the judging in Ger-
man style costumes. The pageant starts at 7 and will be
over by the time the dance starts at 9.
Sponsors are responsible for a $5.00 entrance fee (to be 1
mailed with the application) and to supply a decorated car
at the Berges Fest parade on Saturday, June 20. 1981. A
sign must be on either side of the car with the sponsor’s
and contestant’s names.
If your girl is selected the new Miss Berges Fest,
Princess, Duchess, or Miss Congeniality, they will ride the 1
Berges Fest float.
We must make clear that the 4 girls picked for the
Berges Court will be expected to go to numerous parades
to represent the Festival.
Miss Berges Fest may not compete for any other titles
until her reign is completed in June, 1982. The rest of the
court may compete.
THE DEADLINE FOR ALL CONTESTANTS IS MAY
19, 1981. MRS. TIBBETT MUST HAVE ALL INFORMA-
TION, ETC. BY THAT DATE.

Boerne Star of Boerne will be
honored for outstanding
contributions to the Texas
soil and water conservation
program at a Region II
Awards Banquet on May 7,
1981. The banquet will be
held at 7 p.m. in San Angelo.
Region II consists of 50
counties in Southwest Texas.

Dottie Daggett,
Valedictorian
Mr. Adolph (Curly)
Pechacek, a resident of
Boerne, Texas for the past
52 years, passed away in a
San Antonio hospital this
past Sunday, May 3, 1981.
Curly Pachacek operated a
barber shop on Main Street
Boerne for over 50 years and
was respected and loved by
the many people of Boerne
who came to know him over
the years. Curly came to
Boerne in 1927 and was
associated with Mr. Dunnen-
berg in the barbering
business until he moved
across Main to the Buckhorn
Barber Shop. In a few years,
Curly opened his shop next
to the Boerne State Bank
where it remained until his
retirement in 1978. Besides
serving the needs of his
many customers, Curly
donated many hours tending
to the needs of the patients
at the nursing homes that
were unable to get out and go
to the barber shop. Curly
was a member of the
Volunteer Fire Department,
a member of the Grange for
over 30 years and was cited
conservation district and
individuals who have
dedicated their efforts and
talents to making wise use of
renewable natural resources.

Conservation Board, the .
Association of Texas Soil and
Water Conservation
Districts, and the 201 local
Soil and Water Conservation
Districts in Texas.
