What a great sight, the board
room at Weatherford College.
The press conference to
announce the collaborative
between Weatherford College
and 14 ISD’S in the area was
attended by a host of officials and
media.
To recap an earlier story in
The SCORE, the collaborative
will oversee the installation and
running of hardware and software
for 14 Independent School
Districts in the area to gain access
to the internet. This is a great
opportunity for these schools,
with less than 1,000 students, to
gain valuable information that
had not been available to them. .

The school districts are
Alvord, Brock, Bryson, Gamer,
Graford, Lipan, Millsap,
Paradise, Perrin-Whitt, Poolville,
Santo, Slidell and Strawn.
Representatives from each
district and Weatherford College
officials met the media and
friends to formally announce the
alliance.
Dr. Barbara Mcgregor heads
the program, and says it will be a
great addition of the information
to the districts in the area.
Conditions in such schools as
Alvord, which have no computers
for student access in the library,
reflect the educational handicap
common to many of these
districts. With common
denominators of size, isolation
from resources, low budget, no
or limited Internet access, and
information-starved students, the
only way these small districts can
meet vast educational needs is
through technology and the
benefit gained by participating in
