) Senator Mayfield’s Friends
Hope Former Governor
Will Announce
BY C. J. LILLEY
Press Correspondent
WASHINGTON, Feb. 1. — The
big question in Texas politics be-
ing asked by Congressmen here is
whether Jim Ferguson intends to
run for U. 8. Senator against Sen-
ator Mayfield and the other six
announced candidates.---------•------
Friends of Senator Mayfield say
that his biggest hope is that Jim
will announce. With Ferguson in
the race, Mayfield is hopeful of
getting into the second primary
against him and defeating his old
political enemy of six years ago.
Rep. Tom Conhally, the most
recent candidate to announce, re-
turned Tuesday still undecided
about where he would locate his
headquarters and ' just how he
would launch his campaign. Con-
nally probably will return to Tex-
as In- another month and station
himself either at Waco or Austin.
He plans a vigorous campaign and
' professes to be confident of.vic-
t*rv-—1---------
Mayfield has refused to com-
ment on Connally. The Senator’s
friends say that he expects Rep.
Tom Blanton will make a better
showing than Connally in event
Ferguson enters.
Mayfield isn't sure whether he
win get back to Texas to cam-
paign before the June convention.
Hets carrying on a vigorous mall
campaign. Connally has received
a trunkful of letters endorsing
him and congratulating him upon
entering the face.

“The greatest obstacle to the '
successful treatment of stomach
troubles,” said Mr. Gordon, “was
fermentation (sotring of food''
matter in the stomach and bow- |

gas that causes much distress.
Fermentation can be stopped only
with an, antiseptic.”
