"I have recommended Cardul to
a great many of my friend* be-
cause my health Improved so much'
after I took it," says Mrs. John
Dover, of Hickory Grove, S. C.
"For a longtme, I was in bad-
health. I was weak and run-down.
I suffered frequently from nervous
headaches, and I could not sleep.
”I was thin and pale. I was so
weak I could scarcely walk. It was
an effort for me to do my house-
work. and I could not often ven-
ture out.
"I tried several remedies which
were suggested, but nothing seem-
ed to help me.
"I began to take Cardu on the
recommendation of a friend. I
heard about it and found that it
had helped others who had suf-
fered as I did.
"It wasn’t very long until I saw
that I was beginning to pick up.
"My strength gradually began
to return. I rested better at night
and was less nervous.
"I took several bottles of Car-
dul, and when I quit taking it 1
was in fine health. I have been
well ever since, so I do not hest-
tate to tell others about this relia-
ble medicine."

WACO, Aug. 17—Ons of th
best Friday the 13th stories which
ever came to light, with an odd
set of circumstances linking the
subject the "voodoo" number 13,
has been discovered.
Emmitt Walter Johnson, son of
Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Jobnson, Waco,
was born on Friday the 13th.
That was in August, 1915. His
birthplace was on Thirteenth
Street in Houston. He was th*
thirteenth male descendant of A.
L. Johnson, pioneer Texan. On
January 13, 1922, he joined th*
Metholist Church. On August 18
he wa« 13 years old.
But it doesn’t worry Emmitt.
He plays football, enjoys his
studies and doesn't anticipate ill
luck. He has never been run over
by an automobile or bitten by a
doc, has never been alck in his
life, and in a lot of other ways
seems to have escaped the misfor-
tunes of most other boys, Emmitt
is one reason why the numerolo-
gists might designate 13 as one of
their favorite symbols.

Two hundred and sixty thous-

According to records, the largest
grant in this section was the San

J. N. Cavazos. The maximum

‘ Wilan Gibbs MeAdoo will talk
about Los Angeles weather, the

on the subject of "the Guv'nor"
he's "not talking until after the
Smith acceptance speech."
Since the Houston convention
he ba* given out one statement
and this is to the effect that be
ha* no statement to make. But
if you can judge by the diy Demo-
crats of his clan and their recent
activities you can prophesy that if
Smith repeats his modificationist
doctrines in his acceptance speech
McAdoo will not join his caravan
and he may even endorse Hoover.
