office which was formerly
Elliott Insurance Agency, later
occupied by Stout's Florist.
The office connects at the
rear with other buildings hous-
ing the mobile home factory.

Rites Saturday
For Mrs. McGowen
A longtime resident of the
Grandview community, Mrs.
Jewel McGowen, passed away
about 9_a.m. Thursday, De-
cember 18, in Colonial Manor
Nursing Home, Cleburne. She
had been a resident patient
there for seven months.
Mrs. McGowen's residence
was at 1304 Loma Alta, Cle-
burne. She was 76 and a mem-
ber of Cleburne's First Uni-
ted. Methodist Church.
Eva Jewel McGowen was
born July 15, 1893 in Hills-
boro to Will and Addie Eagan
Patterson.
She was married to Barna
W.. McGowen December 25,
1911. She made her home in
Grandview from 1911-1956.
Mr. McGowen preceded her in
death.
Survivors include a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Mary El Hair, cle-
burne; two sons, Melben Mc-
Gowen, Fort Worth and B. R.
. McGowen, Glebure; a broth- /
er, J. W. Patterson, Grand-/
view; five grandchildren and
eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2
p.m. Saturday at the Clayton
Kay Chapel. Officiating min-
ister was her pastor, Rev. Ed
Otwell.
Pallbearers were W. T.
Williamson and Thomas Dale
Hollimon of Grandview, M. A.
Cooper, Al Stricklin and
Harold Fowler of Cleburne,
Gordon McDonald of Itasca,
Hugh Hiler of Granbury and
Wilmot Davis of Fort Worth.
Interment was in Grand-
view Cemetery.
GIRLS PLACE 3RD IN
HUNTSVILLE TOURNEY
In the Huntsville .Tourna-
ment held December 11, 12 and
13, the Grandview Girls'
basketball team came away
with a third place trophy as
well as several individual and
team honors.
Doris Tribble was selected
as one of the four all-tourna-
ment forwards. Cindy Johnson
set several tournament records, 1
hitting the most free throws of
an individual player in a sin-
gle game (24) and also the
most free throws of an in- .
dividual player in a tourna-
■ ment series (46).
This is an outstanding ac-
complishment as Grandview
played only 3 games, while
the rest of the teams played 4.
The Grandview team holds the
tournament record for the
highest score in one game
with 82 points against Clear
Creek.
Grandview had an aggre-
gate score of 212 in their 3
game series, giving them an
average of almost 71 points
per game.
