IN 73RD HOUSE
Soripps-Howard Newspaper Alllance.
WASHINGTON, July 8.— Min-
nesota’s second largest city, St.
Paul, will be without direct rep-
resentation in the 73rd Congress,
it appeared today as a result of
primary election returns.
The state-wide contest has ap-
parently failed to renominate
Melvin J. Maas, wet Republican
Incumbent from Ramsey County,
and none others nominated on
Democratic and Farmer-Labor
tickets are from St. Paul.
Results of the November elec-
tion are held certain to place in
office more than two residents of
the neighboring city, Minneapolis,
and possibly three or more,
Of the Republican incumbents,
Reps. Nolan, Knutson, Andreson,
Selvig and Pittenger were re-
nominated.
Defeated, in addition to Mais,
are Christgau and Goodwin, both
drys. Rep. Clague was not a
candidate for renomination.
. .'Other Republicans nominated
' are former Governor Christianson,
former G o v e r n o r . Burnquist;
N. J. Holmberg, Ray Chase, Hen-
ry Rlnes. all of whom have held
state offices.
