for education and military service.
Moving with his parents to Big Sandy in 1947, from his birthplace, Kilgore, he attended
school in Big Sandy, graduating from high school there in 1956. He continued his education
at Texas A&M University receiving his degree in engineering in 1960. During 1960-1063 he
served as an officer in the U. B. Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army at the
rank of Captain. Returning to civilian life with his family, they worked, and sacrificed, to-
gether, to get him through the School of Law, SMU, where he received his Juris Doctor law
