The gold we need most is the gold that doesn't glitter. Christ
called it TREASURE IN HEAVEN. It is the everlasting richness
in life that comes with unselfishness, sacrifice, love, devotion to
others, faith in God.

DMPENSATED" SUIT BID
QMPENSATED bid” was an

M other is the number of cards

as a practical exponent of winning
bridge ideas. He is one player who
understands the soundness of the
"compensated bid” principle advo-
cated by Whitehead, and showed
the value of it emphatically by j
earning a clear top score for his
pair on this deal. His truly expert
bid of 3-Spades won the deal for
himself and his partner, as they I
lost nothing but three tricks in
spades.
Every pair that got into 3-No
Trumps was set, some by one trick
when only two tricks were collect-
ed in spades and some by two
tricks, when three were scored in
spades plus two tops in diamonds
and one in hearts. The 4-Hearts
declarers also were set, with three
tricks in spades and one in hearts. 1
Notice that, if North fitted
neither hearts nor spades, he could ,
have slid from the 3-Spades into 3+
No Trumps. in which Mr. Church-
ill’s clubs would have been very
helpful.
Tomorrow’s Problem
a gold-mine of spiritual opportunity ..a
treasure-house of sacred truth. Its worship and its teaching en-
rich human life. The Church will lead you to God! And God
wi ad you to the unfailing Gold!
