Hydroelectric later asked the city to
continue purchasing the electricity
without a contract but the city
refused.
Cucro City Council will meet in
special session today (Wednesday)
to discuss its options concerning an
order by the Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission to resume
purchasing electricity from Cuero
Hydroelectric.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m.

Westhoff plans election
Westhoff School District will hold an election for three places on the
school board on Saturday, May 4. Those interested in filing for that
election may do so at the school office during regular school hours.
The three at-large positions arc currently held by Maude B. Benedict,
Dianne Guenther, and Andy Hodge. The deadline to file for this elec-
tion is March 20.
Primary early voting begins
Today (Wednesday) is the first day to vote early in the Democratic
or Republican Primaries which will be held 12 in DeWitt County. Early
voting by personal appearance is being conducted in the county clerk’s
office which is located in the basement of the courthouse. That office is
open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Sample ballots for these primaries will be published in the next edi-
tion of The Cuero Record. For more information call the county
clerk’s office at 512-275-3724.
10 year reunion for Class of '86
Cucro High School Class of 1986 plans to hold its 10 year reunion in
the near future but needs the addresses of the following classmates: Er-
ma Barfield, Terry Garza, Stuart Handley, Estelle Lee, Charlene Las-
sman, Tina Quinterro, Juan Santana, Gina Warren and David Williams.

their encyclopedias and reference
books to find out more. Perhaps
there are some future astronomers,
astrologers or even astronauts
studying at St. Michael's.

After a three-hour, closed, ses-
sion, the trustees agreed to extend
10 of the 12 administrator’s con
tracts and act on the remaining two
after Finley and Bivens had talked
to Winkler.
However, even after meeting
with Winkler both men stated pub
lically that they were given no
reason why their contracts were not
recommended for extension.

With about 75 teachers, coaches
and booster club members in the
audience, Cucro School District
trustees met in special session
Monday afternoon agreeing to ex-
tend the contracts of athletic direc-
tor Mickey Finley and junior high
assistant principal Rick Bivens.
The meeting climaxed an 11 day
period of limbo for the two in
dividuals after the board took no
action on their contracts at the
regular meeting on February 8.

with the city’s consultant Dr. Jack
Hopper of Austin.
Responses from the survey indi-
cate that of the 758 responses to a
question concerning the quality of
the television picture, 63% said the
quality was excellent to good while
36% said it was adequate to poor.

Cucro Hydroelectric against the
City of Cucro in 1993 is scheduled
to go to trial in April. Cucro
Hydroclectric claims in that suit
that it was overcharged for set up
connections and was discriminated
against by the City of Cucro

Cuero Hydroclectric if the lawsuit
was dropped but the company

about 30 minutes.
About an hour after it had been
closed, the meeting was reopened
to the public and trustee Nancy
Blackwell made the motion to ex-
tend the contracts of Finley and
Bivens through June 30, 1998.
(Both were already under contract
to the district through June
30,1997.)
Mrs. Blackwell’s motion was
seconded by trustee Pat Koranck
and it received unanimous ap-
proval.
There was no additional com-
ment in open session on the matter
