Kelley noted that the school had re-
ceived several phone calls after the
incident appeared on Victoria televi-
sion and in the Victoria newspaper
"We've had many phone calls and
they have been positive and support
ive," he said.
The four students that walked-out
were suspended for the remainder of
the week,School officials also filed
Class C misdemeanor charges on the
students for disrupting classes.
Assistant Principal Phil Grandjean
met with the students and their par-
ents Monday in an attempt to resolve
the conflict.
Cuero Rotary Club is expecting
about 150 Rotarians and guests for
its 75th anniversary celebration
Thursday, April 25, during a banquet
at Cuero Country Club
Organized April 7, 1921, the club
was sponsored by the Victoria Rotary
Club and started with 25 members.
The club received its charter from
Rotary International on May 1, 1921.
The following is an account of that
first meeting as reported in the April
X, 1921 edition of The Cuero Record:
"Amid one of the greatest outbursts
of pep and enthusiasm shown here
in years and the cheers and congratu-
lations of the Victoria Rotarians, the
Cuero Rotary Club had its beginning
at a luncheon called for that purpose.
The organization perfected is but a
temporary one and will be until the
charter requested by the 25 petition-

Rotary celebrates 75th anniversary
The plans have arrived. That is the
message from Mayor Michael
Thamm referring to Texas Parks and
Wildlife's matching grant for Cuero
City Park
Over the next two years approxi-
mately $1 million worth of improve-
ments will be made at the park as a
result of this community's pledge to
match the $500,000 Parks and Wild-
life grant.
Mayor Thamm said the parks com-
mittee will be meeting next week to
review the plans and set a schedule
for construction
He said the committee will probably
have a "kickoff" ceremony at the park
