Following the program, a soci-
al hour was enjoyed and gifts
were exchanged from a Christ-
mas tree. Hostesses for the even-
ing wereMra. Lura Melton, Mrs.
L. L. Thomas and Mrs. Homer
Bowden. A dessert plate was
served to the eight members and
it was George Eliot, noted Eng-
list, authoress of the 1850-s, who
said. “Animals are such agreeable

hem.” The meeting closed by re-

were served by the hostess and

in member. The circle was ad-

Vada Thomas Circle
The Vada Thomas Circle met
in the home of Mrs. Floyd
Thomas with nine members and
two visitors. Mrs. V. W Abbott
and Mrs. Hal Milam present. Mrs.
H. T Darby, chairman presided.
A devotion from Luke was given
by Mrs H. C. Shoemaker which
was followed by group singing.
Mrs. C. M. Russell gave the les-

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a dress of
blue satin with fitted t long
sleeves and full gathered skirt.
She wore a shoulder corsage of
white carnations and carried a
white carnation -tied with satin
streamers atop a white Bible.
Immediately following the
ceremony, a reception was held
in the home of the bride’s par-
ents. The bridal table was laid
with a white lace cloth over blue
and centered with a tree tiered
wedding cake topped with ■
miniature bride and groom. On
one end of the table was placed
a miniature church with a bride
and groom and blue satin stream-
ers tieing silver bells. Presiding
at the table were Mrs. George
Griffin, and Mrs. James Tony
Harrison.
The bride is a 1958 graduate of
Mount Pleasant High School and
the groom graduated in 1856 and
attended East Texas Baptist Col-
lege in Marshall.. Following the
reception the couple left 'for
Houston where they will make

Kappa Gamma, attended a Christ-
mas party for the society in Gil-
mer Saturday evening.
After a program of games and
other entertainment, gifts were
exchanged from a traditionally
decorated tree. A love offering
was made for the society’s grant-
in-aid fund by placing contribu-
tions in a brass vase previously
awarded to the local chapter at
a regional meeting for having the
best attendance and having travel-
ed the greatest distance to the
meet. The grant-in-aid funds is to
assist worthy girls prepare them-
selves to be teachers.

the teachers, the Rev. and Mrs.
Clifton W. North, Friday night.
Games and contests were played
by the group and gifts were ex-
changed from the gaily decorat-
ed Christmas tree. Mrs. North
was presented a gift by the mem-
bers of her class.
The holiday theme was carried
out in decorations of the home.

The Naomi Class of the First
Baptist Church met in the church
parlor Friday for a Christmas
party. Mrs. Lura Melton presided
and roll call was answered with
a favorite carol.
During a short business session
a Christmas box wa packed for
a needy family. Mrs. Roy Shan-
kle gave the Christmas story as
recorded in Luke II. and Mrs.
home studio on the Dallas High-
way
The first of two recitals will
be presented Tuesday evening at
7:30 and will be made up of ju-
nior and high school pupils. They
are: Eleanor Crockett, Dianne
Dunn, Judy Lunsford, Susie
Hunt, Joy Moore, Priscilla Barn-
ard, Martha Mitchell, Lois Ann
Dews, Barbara Grisham, Jack
Cody, Mike Kilpatrick, Paul
Strong, Carlos Hendrick, James
at vantage points in the home
were silvered pink Christmas
trees. A large bronze tree, cov-
ered with pink Christmas balls
was placed in the living room.
The dining table was centered
with white Christmas roses en-
twined with laee and silver and
flanked with triple silver candel-
abra holding pink candles. Assist-
ing the hostess at the table were
Mrs. C. E. Gaddis, Mrs. Webber
W. Beall and Mrs. Frank Marsh-
all.
During the social hour which
followed the program, gifts were
distributed from the tree by Mrs.
Gaddis, assisted by Mrs. Charles
I. Lide.
