Rice Market
New Orleans, July 24.—Receipts
of clean rice totaled 2391 pockets
Tuesday, but, local mills are not
receiving any rough and have little
on hand. Local buyers are out of
the market again since the week-
end and no sales have been report-
ed at the board of trade this week,
although some interior and foreign
business is mentioned.
Some of the mills, as already
stated, are not willing to sell their
best grades at the recent level of
prices and buyers have not looked
favored on the advance, but it is
difficult to buy extra fancy Blue
Rose under 4%c per pound in the
city and 4%c in the country, with
other top grades also firmer.
Smaller crop estimates and prob-
able lateness of the new crop and a
fair demand in the market general-
ly are factors of strength which
will appear in the market from now
until new crop arrives at least.
Shipment is reported of 1042 pock-
ets to Bordeaux.

talk at the Presbyterian church at
8 p. m. today. He will leave with
his family for their American home
