Mr. W. I. Shotwell of Houston, is in

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jones of Gal-
veston, visited briefly with the Trib-
une on the Fourth on their way to
spend the day in Palacios. Mr. Jones
was linotype operator for the Tribune
back in 1925. He and Mrs. Jones ex-
pressed themselves as very surprised
at the many changes for the better
in Bay City and especially so at the
great improvements in the Tribune,
both as to equipment and building.
In spite of the fact that the Sargent
beach was in a very bad condition on
the Fourth it was the gathering place
of many people from Bay City as well
as from adjoining towns.
Among those from Bay City that
attended the dance in Gulf Tuesday-
night were Mr. and Mrs. Adolph
They seemingly paid no mind to her
musings but were chuckling to them-
selves over the sweet surprise they
had in store for her. After her splen-
did chicken dinner they all enjoyed
her daughter, Mrs. Douglas Kain in-
vited her mother to drive to Bay City
with her and she consented. They got
out as far as the Cross Roads, five
day cake covered with candles and

home she sent her mother in for the

house she was greeted by her other
daughters and a house full of com-
pany that had gathered to give her
a birthday surprise and it was truly
a real happy birthday surpise. On the
girl wore a blue organdie ruffled

employment with the Central Power
and Light Company in Bay City

compote, jelly bowl and serving dish
to add to the rest of her hobnail set,
hose, several nice towels, wash rags, a
string of beads, a guest towel, a pho-
tograph of a friend and some nice pot
holders. After these were duly ad-
mired some of the folks played for-
ty-two. others played bridge and some I
engased in conversation until the
daughters got busy and brought out
pimiento sandwiches, iced fruit punch
and the sliced birthday cake that was 1
served after a kodak picture was tak-
en of the whole group who were Mr. 1
and Mrs. H. M Landrum and baby
