away on Tuesday, September
11, 2012 at the age of 98 years
6 months and 4 days. Veva was
born on March 7, 1914 in
Callallan, Texas to Allen
Clifford and Emmer Millie
Carter Houser. She was one of
10 children of Allen and
Millie, Veva, survived by one
brother, Jack Houser of Fort
Worth, Texas. In 1934, Veva
married Milburn Jasper
Adkins and they had two chil-
dren, Jack Milburn and
Florence, moving their ranch
near McDade, Texas, where
Veva resided until 1991.
Veva is preceded in death by
her husband and father of her
children, Milburn Jasper
Adkins; her second husband,
Clyde C. Dungan; her son,
Jack Milburn Adkins and her
8 siblings.
She is survived by her
daughter, Florence Adkins
Jorgenson and her husband,
Anthony W. Jorgenson; her
grandson, Erik Anthony
Jorgenson, as well as, several
nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be
held at 11 a.m. on Thursday,

Ridgeway Cemetery, Paige,

at the Elgin Nursing Home
and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on October 3,
1920 in Elgin, Texas, to par-
ents Harvey and Carrie Scott.
She married Troy Cleveland
Bennett, Sr. in 1939. They were
married for 62 years until his
death in May of 2002. She was
a homemaker. She was a
Sunday School teacher,
Women’s Missionary Union
leader and active member of
several churches during her
life including Hillcrest Baptist
Church of Austin, Killeen First
Baptist Church and Elgin First
Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Harvey and
Carrie Scott, her brother, Ollie
Scott, and her husband, Troy
Cleveland Bennett, Sr.
