Days bids
farewell
MPACT missionaries volunteered for a number of projects last week to help improve the community of Elgin,
one of which was scraping and painting an historic home on Main Street.
The Elgin Chamber
of Commerce honored
Denise Meyer as El-
gin’s Most Worthy Cit-
izen in February, and
as is the Western Days
tradition, Meyer will
hold the post of parade
marshal for the 2016

Western Days is in
its 47th year, and is a
long-standing tradition
for many Elginites. It
is a time to reminisce
on years and celebra-
tions past, and look
forward to reuniting
with friends and com-
munity. For many, the
Police are asking for
the public’s help in
identifying a suspect
who recently broke
into Mariscos La Costa
restaurant located at
109 Highway 290 in
Elgin.
The crime occurred
at 3:35 a.m. June 15,
when two suspects
broke into Mariscos,
and robbed the restau-
rant of the cash regis-
ter, beer and a few
other small items.
Though two suspects
are listed, only one
ries, and friendships.
Through representing
our beautiful town of
Elgin at various pa-
rades and events, I
have found myself
more involved in the
community than ever
before.
One of my favorite
memories during this
time is many younger
girls looking up to me
and hoping to be like
me one day.
I would like to thank
my parents and fam-
ily for giving me the
opportunity to do this
pageant, and always
pushing me to do my
best.
I also want to thank
my court for assist-
ing in parades and
maintaining the float.
