With the stately altar of The New Sweden Lutheran Church as the backdrop, a moving re-enactment of the Flag
Raising at Iwo Jima played out Sunday evening, June 26. The annual God and Country Celebration honoring
“All Who Served” was well attended as a near-capacity crowd gathered to join in the singing of patriotic songs.
The large group of veterans who attended the event received round after round of applause as each group of
the military was recognized. This was followed by a standing ovation. A silent auction and an ice cream social
finished the evening as guests lingered over coffee and veterans basked in the appreciation of the event.

Funderburgh
Natalee Jean and
Billy Wayne Funder-
burgh, ages 38 and 45,
passed away suddenly,
early Sunday morning,
June 26, 2016.
Billy was born in
Austin, Texas, on Sept.
8, 1970, and was raised
by his father, Fred
“Buddy” Funderburgh.
Natalee was born in
Bowie, Texas, to Loretta
and Lee Ervin on June
22, 1978. On Nov. 17,
1988, their two lives be-
came one and were
united in Holy Matri-
mony.
Together they lived
their life to the fullest;
they loved each other
continue to shine, even
in the toughest times.
Knowing their cus-
tomers is the key to
making solid invest-
ments into the future of
the communities they
serve.”
First National Bank of
Bastrop was established
in 1889 and has been
providing top-quality
banking services to its
neighbors ever since.
Today, in addition to its
website, First National
Bank of Bastrop oper-
ates through six branch
offices in Bastrop, Elgin
