Ernest Edwin Davis, 81, of College
Station, died Nov. 4,2021.
A longtime economist and educator,
Davis is well known for his contribu-
tions to cattle raisers and the beef in-
dustry. He was also an Eagle Scout, U.S.
Army Captain and served as a county
Extension agent for many years.
Davis joined Texas A&M University in
1967 as an Extension assistant in live-
stock marketing. During his time on
campus, he earned his master's degree
and doctorate in agricultural econom-
ics. In 1972, he became the depart-
ment's Extension livestock marketing
economist.
Significant among Davis' many ac-
cob and Emily (Hudek) Hotovy in Richardson, Neb. Arlene's parents were
Czechoslovakian immigrants who settled in Butler County, Neb. on a
400-acre farm where they raised livestock and farmed. They had five chil-
dren together until Jacob's untimely death. Arlene's mother married John
Kresse and together they continued to farm and raise their children Ar-
lene, Jake, Vergie, Annie, Donnie and John Kresse's daugther Darlene. Ar-
lene graduated from Assumption High School in Butler County on May 9,
1948. After graduation, Arlene stayed on the family farm until she met and
married Bobby "Don" James. Don served in the military and they moved
around until they settled in Wichita Falls, Texas, and raised four children,
Dona, Kathy, Bob and Joe. After divorcing Don in 1974, Arlene moved to
Fort Worth and met and married Ray Grubbs on Dec. 22 1978. Ray and
Arlene lived in Fort Worth until Ray's death on Memorial Day 2019.
Arlene moved to Schulenburg in September 2019 to live with her son
Bob on his six-acre farm. Arlene enjoyed living in a Czechoslovakian com-
munity and visiting all the Painted Churches. She loved to let her chicken
Henrietta sit on her lap while she petted her and told stories of how she
took care of the farm animals in Nebraska.
Arlene's greatest joy in life was raising her four children. Every summer,
they would all pile into the family station wagon and head for Nebraska so
that she could let them experience the life on the farm she loved so much.
Later in life, when Arlene's children married, the family grew by 22 grand-
children, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Arlene was truly blessed with a big and loving family who will miss her
dearly.
Survivors include her two daughters, Dona Decker and Kathy Penning-
ton; two sons, Robert "Bob" James and Joe James; and her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her mother, father, step-father, her two
brothers, her two sisters and her step-sister.
Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
complishments was the development of a computerized system for mar-
keting feeder cattle in 1979, CATTLEX. He was recognized with the Texas &
Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association's Outstanding Service and Com-
mitment to the Livestock Industry Award in 2004. After retirement, Davis
and his wife formed Mullberry Hill Cattle Ranch near Praha.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Moore Davis; children, Elaine Davis
Abshire (Ty), Edwin Reed Davis (Michele), Roger Rabalais (Jennifer), and
Ryan Rabalais (Genny); seven grandchildren; and siblings, James Allen Da-
vis and David Abney.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at St Paul's
Presbyterian Church, 712 Summit, Schulenburg.

rosary, listened to beautiful music played/sung by
local musical favorite Matt Bonner, and were led
in prayer by Fr. Scott Hill. The attendees enjoyed
refreshments and homemade baked goods donated
by Brother Knights from the Schulenburg Council.

fences, kitchens - the list does not end. Next to creating beautiful things,
he fished, a lot. He loved to fish at the coast with his buddies and sons. His
favorite spot was at his buddy Dale Holly's in Muldoon. Many a bass were
caught and released at those tanks.
Neal built a beautiful family. He was married to Coleen for 38 years,
and he had two awesome sons he was so very proud of, two beautiful
daughters-in-law and three precious grandchildren. His grandbabies were
the light of his life. There was nothing like the look on his face when they
were around.
Besides his wife Coleen, he is survived by his sons, Jay Heinrich and wife
Daniela of Buda, and Cale Heinrich and wife Megan of Schulenburg; three
grandchildren, Rowan, Finley and Deacon; and two sisters and two broth-
ers.
A Celebration of Life for Neal Ray Heinrich was held on Saturday, Dec. 4,
2021 at the Dubina Parish Hall from noon to 2 p.m.
His family writes, "The hole in our hearts is deep, but so are the memo-
ries. PawPaw - we love you forever."
