ABOUT MR. LELAND
When a star goes backward
there are those who like to gloat
over that fact. Cy Leland of T.
C. U. was a thunderbolt of the
gridiron last falt. But the op-
posing teams caught onto his
style and this year are stopping
• him.
But is it so much to gloat over
when a star has been shackled
when it takes two or three to do
itt ° A spectator st the Aggie-
T. C. U. game tells us that he
never saw a player hit harder
than those Aggies hit him.

backs and wingmen.. This season
they are quite different in fact
it seems the two clubs of 1929
have just changed places. Tem-
ple has the speed* and., lighter
boys; Cleburne has the latent
power and slower players.
Temple has in Jack Morris a
sure all-distriet back. He is a
triple-threat star and moreover
fine field general. The Wildcats
also have an all-district wingman,
one Warhone Pickett who la es-
timated to weigh close o 490
pounds by those who have seen
him. Then there's Eb White, the
beat lineman Temple had on the
field last year, who la now quite
a center. Serapiron Grimes at
