Agronomist with Penzoil Cor-
poration for six years planning
and supervising a large scale
fanning and ranching opera-
tion in Texas and Louisiana.
He also served as Executive
Director of Texas Agricultural
Limestone Association.
The short course at Sealy
will begin November 9 at 7
p.m. in the vocational ag.
building. During the four day
short course, Bowers will be
available to assist farmers with
individual problems and to
provide on-the-farm instruc-
tion.
You may pre-register by
contacting the teachers of
vocational agriculture, F.O.
Tyler and Tommie Eckelberg,
or you may register at the start
of the short course. Certifi-
cates will be presented to each
enrollee who attends all four of
the training sessions.
The short course will be
adjusted to the wishes and
interests of farmers and
ranchers enrolled, but such
subjects as adapted grasses and
legumes, fertilization, weed
control, grazing management
and grazing systems will be
covered. The primary purpose
of the course is to help
producers maximize profits
from their pastures.
Short courses in pasture
management, as well as in
other subject matter, are
available to adults throughout
the state under this cooperative
program between the Texas
Education Agency and Texas
AAM University. This pro-
gram is designed to make the
services of specialists available
to conduct short courses under
the supervision of public
schools. The program enables
teachers of vocational agricul-
ture to provide improved
educational services to farm
people.
Specialists are available in
the fields of beef production,
farm arc welding, farm electric
wiring and safety, horticulture,
oxy-acetylene welding, pasture
management, and tractor
maintenance.
