and ROBES
Just because you’re not retired,
doesn’t mean you can’t live that
way! Check the many condo-
apartment complexes and offer-
using their safety belts.
Be sure to lock the doors and
remove the keys when you leave
your car. Don’t tempt thieves by
leaving packages on the seat or in
plain view. Put gifts and luggage
in the trunk, safely out of sight.
The crime of robbery also
increases during this season, but
there are several things you can
do to avoid becoming a victim. If
you shop at night don’t go alone
and park in a well lighted area.
Check the interior of your vehicle
for intruders and have your keys
ready to allow quick entry.
Shoppers should be careful not to
show large amounts of cash when
making purchases.
Every holiday season, hundreds
of people become victims of crime
or motor vehicle accidents. Many
of these occurrences can be
eliminated if these simple precau-
tions are heeded.

ments. Among the specific areas
to be examined are:
1, the scope and consistency of
state and federal regulations
pertaining to waste management;
2. the generation and transpor-
tation of various wastes;
3. selection, approval and
regulation of treatment and
storage facilities;
4. projected demand for new
facilities; and
5. the adequacy of existing
technology to safely dispose of
various waste products, including

Suggestions for .
Safety of Home I
During Holidays I
Although it is “The Season To I
Be Jolly” many area residents will I
find this holiday season to be less I
than jolly because of negligence I
and carelessness, according to I
Major William F. Maley, regional I
: commander of The Texas Depart- I
ment of Public Safety.
Three things are almost certain
1 to be a part of the season, homes
; and apartments will be filled with I
gifts; families taking trips to be |
> with loved ones and friends; and a j
. skyrocketing crime rate. |
‘ The following suggestions are
• offered by Major Maley as 1
• precautions you can and should |
2 take to avoid turning this joyous
time into an unpleasant or tragic
memory.
Start with your home. Make
sure that you lock all doors and I
windows whether you are in the
house or not. If you leave, don’t
leave a key outside in a great
hiding place. Burglars, even
amateurs, know all the usual and
‘ unusual hiding places.
Do not make your affluence
• known. If you do put your
Christmas tree in front of a large
, window, be sure that the gifts are
not easily visible from the
< outside.
. If your holiday plans include a
trip, have home deliveries discon-
tinued and have a trusted friend
