senior crew leader of Explorer
Scout post 655 of the First Chris-
tian church.
Other new officers for the post
are, Bill Evans, deputy senior
crew leader; David West, scribe;
and Dan Hayes and Ray Bacon,
crew leaders.
At the last meeting of the post
moving pictures filmed in Cali-
fornia and on Philmont Scout
ranch in New Mexico were
shown, and a theme for the re-
maining. months in 1952 adopted.

WHITESBORO, Sept. 16—Ralph
Welch, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Welch of Seattle, Wash.,
has completed OCS school at
Corpus Christi AFB,and is visit-
ing his parents in Seattle. He is
a grandson of Mrs. W. R. Welch
of Whitesboro.
Mrs. Ernest Hays flew from
Brooklyn, N. Y., Tuesday to join
her husband in Leghcun, Italy.
Mr. Hays is associated with the
army engineers.
Morris D. Ramsey left his sta-
tion on Sept. 11 in San Francis-
co, Calif., for a second tour of
duty in Korea. He had spent
more than a year in Korea. He is
assigned to the USS Los Angeles.
Morris is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. Z. Ramsey of Cellinsville.
Pfc. Doyle E. Cagle, son of Mr.
and Mrs.O. F. Cagle, has arrived
in Korea. Fie has been assigned
to headquarters of the 45th in-
fantry division as photo inter-
preter of the Intelligence section.
Pfc. Jimmie M. Eldredge, son
of Mrs. J. O. Eldredge of Sadler,
recently received a safe driver
certificate at Camp Gordon, Ga

Improvements to
Property Made
In Valley View
VALLEY VIEW, Sept. 17 —
Many improvements are being
made in the business and resi-
dential sections of Valley View.
Jack Latham is rebuilding his
store which was destroyed by
fire two years ago. The new and
up-to-date building will be oc-
cupied by grocery and hardware
stores.
Mrs. Lillie Keel is having ex-
tensive repairs made to her resi-
dence in the south part of town
and expects to move into her
home by October 1.
John Lowe is improving the
residence recently purchased
from Mrs. Dan Flint. A new bed-
room is being added and the
house painted and redecorated.
C. E. Weseman-has purchased
a lot on - the north side of the
square and plans to erect a tile
building for his cafe, which is
now on the east side of the sauare.
Repairs have been made to the
Church of Christ building and
the Methodist parsonage recent-
ly.
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stroud
have purchased a lot from Mrs.
R. E. Murrell, on which they ex-
pect to erect a residence'in the
near future.
V. D. Aston is building a resi-
dence on his property in the east
part of town.
ranaoipn O’Brien has pur-
chased property on North Main
street, and is having the house
remcdled and redecorated.
C. H. Chism is having a resi-
dence on North Main repaired
and improvements made.
Jimmie Nichols is having water
mains laid in the north part of
town and fire plugs are to be
installed to provide Valley View
with fire protection. Mr. Nichols
recently erected a 50,000 gallon
overhead storage tank and a
100,000. ground storage tank, to.
assure adequate water supply for
the community.

Training Course
In Cub Scouting
Set for Leaders
Gainesville adult leaders and
potential leaders in Cub scouting
will follow the example being
set this week by Boy scout lead-
ers in the county by conducting
their own training course, begin-
ning Monday.
Training sessions will be held
from 7 p. m. to 10 p. m. for three
consecutive Mondays in the base-
ment of the First Presbyterian
church.
The actual training will be
conducted by Circil 10 council
training experts from Dallas, but
will be under the general direc-
tion of the Rev. Ed Hancock,
pastor of the First Presbyterian
church, Leo Kuehn, Jr., D. J.
Murphy, Dick Hall and Bob
Claxton, all Cooke county scout-
ing leaders.
All men or women interested
in Cub scouting have been in-
vited to attend any or all of the
meetings scheduled for Sept. 22,
Sept. 29 and Oct. 6.
Ken Blanton, organization
chairman of Cooke county, and
Claude Rayburn, district scout
executive, will be on hand to as-
sist newcomers who are inter-
ested in starting new cub packs
in the Cooke district.
One Polio Case
Listed in Weekly
Disease Report
Influenza and virus-x headed
the contagious disease report of
the City-County Health depart-
ment last week with 14 cases of
each being reported along with
one new polio case.
.Other contagious diseases listed
during the week were, dysentery,
5; pneumonia, 4; and measles, 2.
The pilio victim is Chris Wal-
terscheid, 27-months-old. son of
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Walterscheid
of Muenster.
The child was taken to Dallas
about 10 days ago for observa-
tion and his illness diagnosed as
polio. He is now confined to
Parkland hospital.
He becomes the eleventh polio
victim of the year for Cooke
county.

stitution and by laws for the club
