New York, Dec. 26.—John D.
Rockefeller’s income for the
year of 1906 will be 160,000,000.
This information was obtained
today from absolute authority.
While John D. Archbold and
Henry H. Rogers were discuss-
ing with a prominent financier
the subject of how the oil king’s
millions were piling up, Mr.
Rogers was overheard to say:
“I know of a fact that Mr.
Rockefeller’s income will be
sixty millions.”
Mr. Archbold assented. They
know more about John D. Rocke-
feller’s finances than any other
^vo men in the world.
Khis would make Mr. Rocke-

make people more careful, as there is
no danger whatever from a cold when
it is properly treated in the beginning.

"While you are on the subject of
spelling,” says a correspondent, "can
you kindly explain why business men
persist in writing ’enquire' and ‘en-
quiry’ for ‘Inquire’ and ‘inquiry?" The
word is pronounced ‘in,’ and ‘in’ clear-
ly expresses the meaning.”
The explanation, we think, must be
that business men are too much given
to the study of the elder classics of
our language. In the romance of "Gen-
erydes," for example, the business
man rends that:

The Grip.
“Before we can sympathize with;
others, we must have suffered our-
selves. No one can realize the suf-
fering attendant upon an attack of
the grip, unless he has had the ac-
tual experience. There is probably
no disease that causes so much phys-

successfully defies medical aid. All
danger from the grip however, may
be avoided by the prompt use of

have used this remedy, not one case
